Spread the love

Juliet sat soaking in a luxurious, lemon, and lavender bath, part of her usual nightly self-care ritual. However, tonight was different. She could not seem to let go of a conversation she had earlier that day. For some reason, this particular conversation with her friend Valeri seriously rattled her. All-day, she had found her mind wandering back to the debate with Valeri over her self-care rituals, particularly her choice to enjoy a good bath.

She couldn’t understand why everyone around her seemed to be harping on the notion of taking a bath as part of one’s self-care rituals. Yes, it’s something we all do. However, to her, it was the intentions she set for herself around the bath that made it not a habit, but a beautiful and glorious act of deep nourishment that her soul craved at its very core.

Juliet made it a point to carve out time in her busy day and put an hour aside every night for her bathing ritual. She was intentional with the way she let down her hair, gently massaged her scalp, and ran her fingers tenderly through her hair. She set the vibe by steaming the bathroom to the perfect temperature and playing a curated playlist in the background.

Any other night her senses would be soothed by the scent of vanilla and orange peel freshly diffused into the air. She would gently caress the tension away from her body, melt back against her bath pillow, and allow the elemental notes of the violin and piano to orchestrate her arousal to a state of utter bliss.

No such luck tonight, Juliet was too restless to find peace and harmony within her bathing sanctuary. Disheartened, she wanted to cry and fall asleep. Instead, Juliet switched her music to a podcast. She laughed to herself, reading the title. Ironically it mentioned something about self-care.

Though, without giving it too much thought, Juliet allowed herself to get lost in the comforting voices of the podcast hosts. Drying off, she soaked in the soft warmth of the towel and the silky touch of her robe against her skin. Suddenly, her ears perked up as she listened to her podcast hosts talking about self-care rituals.

She listened now, more with intention as they discussed the role intention and self-awareness play in self-care. They talked about how intentions behind the practice of self-care can cultivate a deep feeling of self-love and gratitude. Juliet found herself nodding along in agreement. Their words beautifully expressed her inner thoughts and feelings.

Juliet once again felt grounded and connected to her core values. She let the feeling of love for herself wash over her. Juliet closed her eyes and breathed in the aroma of vanilla, orange peel, lemon, and lavender that still mingled in the air. She felt the weight of the day slip off her shoulders as sleep beckoned her to release the day so she could begin anew.

      1. I bet…the closest I’ve gotten recently is from my husband, which I will still take on any given day! 😉 I enjoy a steamy shower with luxurious scents (my soap is raw sugar lemon..it totally smells like lemon cookies).

  1. cute art and any self-care is most important at times like this … bath is not me but those scents and the music resonated deeply.

Most disagreements cause disparity … so important to apologise to each other sooner rather than later 🙂

The ‘like’ button claims it’s still loading ages later … WP gremlins! How are you?

    1. I’m doing well Kate my dear, though with the way things are here’s with rising numbers and my state governor refusing to set regulations…it scares me to go back into the school next month. My intuition is whispering at a much higher frequency.

However, I refuse to despair. I’m taking it one day at a time and talking with my supervisors for alternative methods to connect in the classroom, hopefully virtually.

Thank you my dear Kate, I’m not so much into the bath thing either, but I agree self-care is always important, but especially at times like this.

I’m not one that can let strides in my relationships fester, I’d rather address any issues as they arise, even if it’s an uncomfortable talk to have. It generally makes the relationship stronger as a result. 😊 ❤️

      How are you doing Kate?

      1. how odd, I really thought you were in UK 🙂

I am well, super busy sorting the family home which has sold with my brothers locked out overseas. Can’t wait to settle 🙂

      2. Lol 😁 Nope I’m in Florida, though originally an upstate NY girl born and raised. I would love to be in the UK for sure though! 😃😉

I bet, I’m sure you’ll be happy to just breathe. ❤️

  2. Its lovely Jenna and full of positivity which we need right now..i am glad to see hanging around WP again..

    Sending you lots of lovr🥰🥰😙

    1. Thank you Mich my dear, it’s a wonderful place for positive connection, which our souls and hearts most definitely need right now. Sending lots of love and hugs 🥰🥰😊❤️

  3. This was a luxurious read! I don’t remember when the last time was I had a bath…probably around the holidays! Self care is such an important part of life. Loved all the details you included!

    1. Even we don’t officially take…here’s a nice luxurious one for the mind! 😁😉 You’re absolutely right Irma my dear, self-care is definitely necessary. 😊❤️

  4. My dear Jenna, (it refers to your podcast opening)

Great idea – I support it too – there are really many topics that might be of interest to be discussed.
Chose whatever you feel in your heart, dear friend.

Warm hugs and love and I hope all is fine with you 🙂

    1. Thank you Didi my dear, I’m doing well. I’ve had a lot of things that need fixing in my home recently…thinking about what’s to come with our schools opening next month, and it’s not currently a safe idea. Otherwise I’m well, I hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy! 🤗 💞 😊 ❤️

      1. Thank you, my dear Jenna 🙂
So good luck with your plans regarding school, my friend 🙂
Here, all is fine and Covid 19 is longer felt so strongly anymore.
Yes, also for your family all that is good for you 🙂
        Hugs and love 🤗🤗🤗

      2. Where I live the numbers are very high and keep rising. It’s still a huge challenge as too many are taking it too lightly, which puts so many others at risk. This causes me great concern. I want others to be more kind and compassionate to others. However, this is not always the case. All I can do is makes a difference in the choices I make and model in the world. 😊 🤗😊💗🤗

      3. Yes, I understand the situation very well, also here it too many times happens that people neglect being cautious and thoughtful and then you search for having a proper distance to them. I hope for the whole world thast these difficult times will return to a normal life and that we all will have learnt our lessons from it.

        From heart to heart 🤗🤗🤗
        Didi
