Hello my lovely rays of sunshine, just in case you missed part one of the story, you can find it here.
The lights emerged from the edge of the garden, Katana’s giddiness slowed as the lights suddenly went dim and the tinkling stopped. She found herself face to face with two tiny garden fairies. They seemed spooked by her unexpected presence and her laughter that seemed to linger playfully in the air. Katana wanted nothing more than to assure them she was harmless.
She hurriedly racked her brain for ways to assure them she was friendly. She started with a welcoming smile. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest as she began to hum, hoping that her catchy tune would ease them. She saw one fairy nod to the other, and they again began to sparkle and glow. Their cheerful tinkling blossomed in tune with Katana’s melody. By the end of the song, they were all flushed with excitement.
Iris and Dahlia grinned from ear to ear and squealed with delight as they flittered closer to introduce themselves. Now, Katana understood the previous giddiness that thrummed through her. Their melodic tinkling of joy was naturally contagious, and her heightened sensitivity was deeply affected by it. Thankfully, the longer she was exposed, the more her senses adjusted, and she was able to be herself. Katana stretched out her pinky as she introduced herself.
Katana was new to the lagoon and had longed to make friends. Katana listened to Iris and Dahlia share stories about growing up here in the gardens. Katana’s heart warmed, imagining all the new adventures they’d have together. The three of them talked and made music late into the night, not wanting their laughter and fun to end. Before they knew it, the sun was peeking over the horizon. Reluctantly, Katana said goodbye to her new friends as they promised to visit again soon.
