Luna danced cheerfully, enchanted by the freshly fallen snow. It sparkled like stardust glistening in the night sky. She excitedly picked up a handful and blew it’s magic into the air wishing a snowman to life. She giggled as the snowman bowed and held out his hand asking her to dance. The sound of her laughter rang throughout the forest, luring an unexpected guest to check out the scene.
Jack Frost was feeling restless wandering aimlessly through the forest when the sound of laughter caught his attention. Overwhelmed with curiosity, he couldn’t resist the temptation to see where all the merriment was coming from. He followed the sound of laughter to a clearing in the forest. Jack stood on the edge of the clearing, leering from behind his favorite old oak tree.
Jack couldn’t help but feel a gnawing sense of jealousy. It wasn’t fair that this snowman got to have so much fun, and he was just a figment of this girl’s imagination. Jack’s jealous rage sent a gust of frosty air into the clearing sending Luna flying backwards and her snowy dancing snowman into a heaping pile of glittering snow. Luna bent over and picked up her snowy friend’s scarf, a tear falling down her cheek.
All she wanted was a friend to play with that loved the magic of the snow as much as she did. Her heart sank until she caught a movement out of the corner of her eye. She pretended not to see anything and waited until the coast was clear, then followed the footprints in the snow. However, they stopped suddenly without a trace leaving Luna feeling confused.
Deep in thought Luna retraced her path back to the clearing only to find a little mouse hunkered in the scarf she’d left behind. The poor little fella was shivering. Luna wrapped him in the scarf and carried him straight away to her friend Hewy the Hedgehog. She knew he’d be in good hands and she’d be back to check up on him when her strength had again returned to full strength. She could feel her light fading and knew it was time for her to rest. Hewy assured her the little prince would be in good hands until she could return.
Happy Sunday my lovely rays of sunshine, I apologize for the delay in season cheer. Apparently my open invitation of warm hugs has made me add all the wintery cranks as guests in my day today life…mischievous little buggers have sprinkled me with 3 separate rounds of the head cold bah humbugs…Jack Frost and his posse of ba hooligans have been nipping at my nose trying to defeat my natural Christmas jolly.
Lovely & heartwarming!
