Spread the love

I was watching some animated short films and stumbled upon these heart touching videos. I highly recommend giving them a watch! They’re a wonderful reminder of how sometimes outside influences breakdown our spirit, even if we have a warm and loving support system cheering us on.

These outside influences can cause real damage to our self-confidence and self worth, leaving us feeling alone and defeated. We truly all need the reminder from time to time to be gentle with ourselves. Unfortunately, self-love and self-compassion are not skills that are generally taught in school, yet they are important tools to help us throughout our lives.

I can’t help think of my own childhood. I had so many people and family in my life that supported and wanted only good things for me. However, in all honesty I had quite a few experiences that bruised my delicate and sensitive heart and I didn’t always have a strong sense of self-confidence and often times doubted my own dreams and abilities.

I was stuck in a push and pull of wanting to listen to my inner voice, which was so gentle and quiet contrasted with a strong desire to please the influences that I looked up to. With time I’ve learned that our role-models generally mean well. However, I’ve also learned there needs to be balance of appreciation for the advice and support given by those that we love and look up to, along with knowing we can pick and choose what to take away from the advice given, while still respecting our own needs and values.

I’m so happy I’ve found my way home to my creative and imaginative self and now proudly share this place of play, adventure, and beauty through my art and writing. Always dream big and explore the endless possibilities that only you can uniquely bring light, love, and magic into the world.

One Small Step

Overcomer

Next time you are feeling discouraged or frustrated with yourself, remember to ask yourself…Would I say these things to my inner child or to the person I love most. what are some loving words I need to hear? What would I tell my younger self from a place of love and compassion?

Much love, light, and warm hugs always!πŸ€—β€οΈ

  1. Great to hear from you! Been thinking of you and hoping that all has been well! An important message in your post and great illustrations!
    Good luck with your book!

    1. Thank you Carolyn, sorry for the long hiatus! This time of the school year alway seems so busy. I’m glad for the next week off as I’m just getting over my second go round of the head cold that’s been going around both at mine and my husband’s work. I’ve been slowly but consistently working on the illustrations in my free time. I’ve got a lot of great plans in the works for getting my book out there and sharing it after I publish it. I’m really excited! πŸ˜ƒ ❀️

      1. Indeed! 😊 I’ve shared the illustrations with many of my students and their enthusiasm and excitement definitely brings me even more joy in the process!❀️

    2. I look forward to doing some reading on your blog this week, I truly miss all your wonderful shares and stories! I hope you and your family are well and have an amazing Thanksgiving!😊 ❀️

  2. What a lovely picture! And congrats on your book! This is a good reminder. Often times we are critical of ourselves in a way that we would not be if it was someone else.

    1. Thank you Irma! 😊 πŸ’– Sadly this is true and we all need this reminder sometimes. sometimes. I know I catch myself sometimes and have to take a deep breath and a step back when I’m frustrated.

  3. Awe… How precious both these were. What beautifully constructed artistic messages… I almost cried during Overcomer… Thank you for sharing, Jenna! We are so happy you are out here making our lives better through your talents and artistic beauty! Happy and proud to call you friend!

    1. I agree, both of these videos are beautifully constructed with such powerful messages. I definitely felt tears at my eyes and found myself talking out loud to the characters encouraging words. It was my pleasure to share these works of art that touched my heart and soul. 😊 I’m happy and honored to call you friend as well Kevin! πŸ€—β€οΈ Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  4. I am thrilled to see you here finally…happy thanksgiving Jenna …and what a way to celebrate thanksgiving than celebrating our unique abilities and talents. Sometimes we are so drowned with the thought of having to please people around us, and that could be really damaging to our self worth . Your words echo the thoughts of all those who have been through the same struggles growing up and even as adults.
They say that the world is cruel. I say its not. In fact the world is kindest most liveable planet in the universe, sadly, its inhabitants (called humans) are making it a difficult place to live..
Cheers to your book and to these wonderful illustrations..

    1. I couldn’t agree more Mich, we should all celebrate our unique abilities/differences. It takes many of us a long time to embrace our beautiful individuality. Societies expectations can make this a challenge for many of us, though I’ve found when I’m open to seeing what makes me special the universe sings and others see my light shinning bright.
That oldtime saying that we must love ourselves first before we can truly appreciate and accept the love of others.
There is a lot of good and love in the world, we just have to keep putting more love out there and know that there’s much light in the darkness, as we can see in the beauty of the night sky. 😊❀️

Cheers Mich my dear to the million stars movement and the compilation of personal stories in your book to bring more light into the lives of so many others all around the world! Keep shinning bright Mich my dear! 😊 πŸ’–

      1. It is with great pride and joy that i shared this to you too who supported me from the start of the advocacy..

Keep writing Jenna..you are an inspiration

      2. Thank you, Mich! 😊 You’re an inspiration too my friend, much love and light! ✨ πŸ’• ✨

      1. Lol well we can still celebrate the things we’re grateful for everyday…at least I try…I think of the holiday as a way to add extra gratitude into my life for all the little things 😊❀️

      2. Me too,…though I’m grateful for the holiday to remind others to fill their days with gratitude.😊 ❀️

      3. Well I look at it more as an extra opportunity to fill my heart with gratitude to for all the things and people in my life every day 😊❀️

    1. Glad to be back! 😊 I’m on Thanksgiving break this week, enjoying some much needed to relaxation.πŸ˜‰ My husband and I just finished watching the anime Sleeping Princess, if you haven’t seen it, it’s totally worth the watch! 😊 ❀️
