I find it helpful when working on a writing piece that I haven’t worked on in a while to go back and reread my work from start to finish. I’ve recently started up working on my novel again and have been rereading it as I go. There’s a small part that I came to last night while rereading that just really touched my heart and felt compelled to share.
Still, holding the picture of the three of us in my hands, I turned my gaze out the window next to me and saw the sun starting to perk itself up for the day ahead. I held the picture to my heart and smiled. For the first time, I felt a sense of closure. I knew Alexander wouldn’t want me to be sad. I knew he’d always be a part of me wherever I go, this thought was like a warm hug melting away some of the sadness that was frozen around my heart.
This definitely drew me back to some of the losses I’ve experienced in my own life. It reminded me that when we feel such a strong loss of any kind in our life we tend to pull away from others and build a wall of ice around us and our hearts (often without even meaning to). We’re trying to protect ourselves from going through pain all over again. Then there’s the moment in time when the pain begins to lessen and the wall we’ve built up around us starts to melt away and the heart begins to mend.
I wanted to reach out to any hurting hearts and wrap them in a warm hug and let them know it’s ok to feel deeply. Your pain is understandable, it’s real, and it’ll take time to mend. However, also know that while time doesn’t take away the hurt and the reality of the loss, you will grow stronger, and your heart will mend. I wanted you to know even though you may feel as though the world has come crashing down around you and that your alone, there are many others, who understand…even if their loss was not exactly the same as yours. You don’t have to go through the pain alone. Let others in to help melt away the pain and warm your heart again.
I also wanted to share a few links from other parts of my novel
While I’ve provided links as I was reading through my original post of the book’s intro Creative Courage: Dare to Be Vulnerable, I realized I’ve definitely made some changes to the original draft since then, but it still holds the same basic feel, even if some of the wording has changed.
In this link Monday Motivations: Warm Inspirations of Sunshine and Lavender is one of my favorite parts of the book that fills me with absolute joy and inspiration every time I think about it or read it. If you haven’t read it already, I highly recommend it! It’s totally worth the read as I believe it’ll fill you with warmth and inspiration as well!
Okay my lovely rays of sunshine, I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week and have a fun and relaxing weekend ahead!
