Spread the love

I want to thank Tom Burton, for nominating me for another Sunshine Blogger Award, I’m truly humbled and sincerely appreciate the opportunity! Please check out his blog where I’m sure you’ll connect with his wonderful stories and warm soul.

1. Where are you from?

I’m originally from upstate NY. I was born and raised there and relocated to FL about 10ish years ago. It’s been an interesting adventure living in FL. I’ve met a lot of wonderful people. I truly believe it gave me room to grow as an individual and find myself as I was entering adulthood. Granted it’s definitely been difficult to be away from my family and I don’t see myself living in FL forever. My other half and I do not want to permanently settle down here for the rest of our lives, but for the moment we’ll enjoy the sunnyside of the Sunshine state and the adventures it holds for us.

2. What animal would you best describe as your spirit animal?

After doing some research and looking inwards as to where I am currently in my personal growth, I’m inclined to say the owl. They are associated with intelligence and wisdom which are words that many people have always used to describe me throughout my lifespan. Many times since I was a little girl I’ve been told I have an ancient or an old soul with much insight and wisdom. They’re seen as a reflective creature that encourages us to look inwards for answers The owl has also been linked to moon magic, which definitely intrigues me as I’ve always symbolized the moon as the sun of the night that carries us through the darkest hours. The owl is patient and observant and knows when to be still and present in the moment, which is something I highly value. Granted there are many other animals that I feel truly connected to this felt right at this moment.

3. What’s your favorite season of the year and why?

Autumn is my favorite season. When I was a little girl since my birthday is in September and the leaves would be just beginning to change colors, I thought God made the leave’s colors turn the beautiful warm vibrant colors as a personal birthday gift for me.

4. What’s your favorite book (or book series)?

Harry Potter is an all-time favorite, it’s a series that I’ve read many times. Though there are many other books and series that I truly love as well.

5. What’s your favorite film, TV show, and song?

Ok, such a loaded question as I do not have just one favorite in any category and it depends on my mood. So that is my honest answer. I love many different genres of film, TV, and music. Though for a good laugh it’s likely to be something like Young Sheldon or The Big Bang Theory these days as far as TV goes.

6. How do you like to wind down after a busy day?

Honestly whatever feels right at that moment, I listen to my inner voice to guide me as to the need of my mind, body, and spirit. It could be writing, drawing, reading, taking a walk, watching a movie, or a combination of these things. Though I have a night time routine for various days of the week which includes some sort of physical activity such as taking a walk, riding my bike, or doing yoga. Followed by journaling and/or reading before settling into bed for the night.

7. If you could tell your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be and why?

Always listen to that little voice inside of you, it knows the way and it’ll help guide you to where you want to go.

8. Why did you start writing a blog?

I originally started blogging as a place to inspire and connect with others through my art and empower others to freely express themselves creatively. I can’t even begin to express my gratitude for all the love and support that I’ve found here in the blogging community. Blogging has been so much more than I ever imagined it would be. It’s rekindled my passion for writing, I’m working on a novel, and I’ve found my voice. It filled the void that I’d created by pushing writing out of my life because I’d long ago filled my head with voices telling me I wasn’t good enough, rather than listening to the one voice that counted, my inner voice. Taking the plunge and deciding to dive in was a decision I’m happy I made. Blogging makes me feel at home. It lights me up, and I feel so very blessed for the opportunity to share my heart with the world.

9. What do you hope to achieve for 2019?

I’ve come to believe in not setting resolutions for the new year. It’s not that I don’t believe in goals or find them important. I believe more in following where your journey leads you and taking it one day at a time. Something I’d like to see happen in 2019 is finishing my novel which has recently been taking more of a back burner as so many other projects have taken precedence. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve written a few sentences here and there which all add up, but I’m just not writing at the same pace I was.

10. What have you enjoyed most about blogging so far?

The interactions that I have with others here in the blogosphere. I’ve had so many touching conversations with others as well as have read so many of their wonderful blog posts that have made quite an impact on me. The WordPress community is so wonderful and many of those that I’ve connected with here are supportive and feel like we are kindred spirits.

11. What would your best blogging tip be?

Be authentic and share what light you up and makes you excited to share with the rest of the world. Don’t be afraid to get messy and know that it doesn’t have to be perfect, after all, we’re our own worst critics and tend to over analyze and second guess ourselves. If we get caught up in that vicious cycle you’ll lose your sense of self-confidence and are more likely to give up and prevent yourself from reaching others that may connect with the special wonders that your soul has to share with the world. Not to mention your limiting your opportunities for personal growth which will happen as you experiment with what feels right for you.

My Questions:

  1. If sleep suddenly became a thing that was no longer required, what would you do with the extra time?
  2. What fictional place from a movie or a book would like to go to and why?
  3. What is a skill you’ve never tried, but always wished you could master?
  4. Do you consider yourself more of a morning person or a night owl?
  5. What are 3 small things that make each day a little brighter?
  6. Who is someone you consider a mentor and why?
  7. What’s does an ideal morning look like for you?
  8. What’s one thing in your life that you hope never changes?
  9. What is special about the place you grew up?
  10. If you could have only one question answered in life what would it be?
  11. Who’s someone that always inspires you to be the best version of you?

My rebel spirit again leaves this wonderful nomination open to all you wonderful rays of sunlight that have so much light to fill the world with. Have a wonderful day full of love, warmth, and light!

  1. Congratulations, Jenna! Well-deserved award! Great answers you have. I love owls! I love what they represent. Your post reminded me to continue collecting souvenirs of them. 😉😊❤️🌹

      1. If you like, I was thinking of linking to your blog in my Solidarity Blogger Award so new readers could visit it. There’s no need to choose other nominees if you’d prefer not to, but would you like your blog to get mentioned so more people are made aware of it?

      2. I’m still working on the Sunshine Blogger Award, but I will definitely be posting it in the next few days. 🙂
